Welcome to the Portland, Oregon, Lesbian and Gay Kayaking Club
(It's ok if your version of being gay is happy...everyone is welcome)
OutKayaking is a group of lesbian and gay kayak enthusiasts who enjoy
exploring the waters of Oregon, Washington, and Pacific Ocean coast. While
most of our day trips are near the Portland area, we also plan extended
overnight camping trips to areas such as Waldo Lake in the Central Oregon
Cascades and the San Juan Islands in Canada.
Our group is
now over 370 members (about 2/3 women and 1/3 men). Our paddles are open to
all and membership is free. By providing your email and phone we can keep
you informed of events and let you know the times and locations of the
meeting places.
Our members are
at all skill levels and own or rent a range of kayaks from recreational to
fiberglass touring kayaks. We generally plan 2 paddles per month. One an
easier beginner paddle and the other a longer more intermediate paddle.
Some of our beginner trips are suitable for canoes but please ask the
leader to verify.
The purpose of
this club is for networking and social. Leaders are volunteer and not
trained or responsible for your safety. You must always wear a PFD at all
times on our events and carry a whistle.
